The below is rough agenda and plan for the weekend and the time here. Hope this gets you looking forward to coming along to enjoy the weekend and gets all the old memories flowing.  We look forward to welcoming and meeting each one.  If you can not come, please sign the guest book here on our website, share a memory, or leave a comment.  If you have a memory you would like shared, please send it through to us so that it can be read out at some point on the weekend.

Original post and all other details can be found here.

Additionally we do have some Sakeji clothing and hats that will be for sale during the weekend if you so desire.

Schedule

Friday afternoon as everyone is arriving we are leaving lots of time for meeting, catching up along with some games, activities and go-kart rides.

Friday Supper – You guess what we are having.

Friday Night – A big bamboo bonfire just like old times.

Saturday morning will begin with an ‘early morning swim’.

Saturday Breakfast – Well again tradition will rule.

Saturday Morning – Following breakfast there will be a morning assembly with singing and a hankie check.  Be prepared!  For those who are late, there may be some marches handed out!  A scavenger hunt is being planned for part of the morning as well, so that old haunts may be visited.

Saturday Afternoon – After lunch there will be swimming at the pool.  We will try to have the flying fox going as well as king/queen of the plank.

Saturday Supper – Supper will be a birthday party themed event.  Costumes will be provided.

Saturday Night – In the evening, there will be a talent night, sketches, and much more in keeping with the birthday part theme. Come prepared with a skit, a song or a favourite memory.  There will be a quiz for all you history buffs!  We will try to get some old movies going with the reel-to-reel projector to show as well as some pictures in a slide show.  If you have some old pictures that you would like to share, please send them along or bring them.

Sunday morning – There will be a family service at Sakeji, followed by “letter writing” (recording memories for a memory book).

Sunday Lunch – Tradition Again

Sunday Afternoon – After lunch, the lorry will take a trip to the cottage for afternoon tea, swimming, and a relax.

Sunday Night – There will be a Sunday evening fellowship time in the main sitting room.

Easter Gardens

Every year at Sakeji we have a bit of an informal tradition around Easter. The kids take a Sunday afternoon and work in teams to use only things they find around them to create a mini scene of the easter story. The creativity and ideas always amaze us as we remember this special time.

90 Year Celebration @ Sakeji

Greetings from Sakeji Mission School.  As a school, we are thankful for God’s faithfulness over the past 90 years. We thought it would be a good idea to celebrate this milestone so have begun planning a small event here at Sakeji.  A weekend of remembrance and celebration is being planned, beginning Friday, 7th August and concluding Sunday, 9th August which will be during the school break. We are hoping this will be a time to reminisce about the good old days, share stories, games and create a few new memories.  The invitation is extended to former Sakeji pupils who are 20 years of age or older.  Accommodation is limited and so will be given to those who respond first.  Please please let us know if you are interested in attending for the weekend.  We need to hear from you by the end of June if you plan to attend, so that adequate preparations can be made.  Please email headmaster @ sakeji.com to make reservations, or for further information.

To add this to your calendar visit the calendar entry here

We understand that this will not leave room or time for planning for a lot of people. But since the Sakeji family is a wide and diverse one from all over the world we would love to hear from all of you.  Please leave your comments and thoughts in the comments section of this post or leave a entry on our brand new Sakeji Guest Book here. Have pictures you want to share or other news, contact us and we would be glad to share what we can.

Term 2 – 2014 Headmaster Update

Excerpts from the update sent to parents for term two 2014:

Dear Parents,

Greetings from Sakeji Mission School. We do pray you are well. I know that some of you pray for us here on a regular basis, and for that I am very thankful. Here is a little mediation and update that I wish to pass along to you.

I was just thinking about God’s Word. 1 Peter 2 says the Word of God is imperishable – it does not fade, it does not pass away, it remains forever. If we are Christians, 1 Peter 3 tells us that we should be desiring the Word of God, just like a new born baby desires milk to grow, so that we may grow and mature in the things of the Lord. Grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3v18. To all of us, it should remind us that God will do what He has said. Everything else that we know might fail or end, but not God’s Word.

We are encouraged to learn of several students coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour this past term. We leave the results with the Lord and pray that others will respond to the gospel message. The students are exposed to the Word of God in dorm devotions, school assemblies, Sunday schools, and Scripture classes.

So far, we have studied 3 character qualities in school assemblies; attentiveness, obedience, and gratefulness. These character quality assemblies serve as a great basis for discussing how attentiveness, obedience, and gratefulness can be demonstrated in a practical way in the classroom, on the playground and in the dorm.

Classes are going well. It is good to see students making progress in different areas. The grade 3 and 4 students have been focusing on times table memorization. Some of the most advanced swimmers have done a 1 mile swim recently. Most of them did this (64 lengths of our swimming pool) in 45 minutes or less. The Grade 6 and 7 students have had opportunities in recent evenings to view the moon and stars through the school’s telescope. This has hopefully helped to reinforce what they have been learning in Science. The Grade 8 and 9 students visited the Ikelenge District Agricultural Fair this past Saturday. Everyone has been busy!

Students are looking forward to several key events still to come this term. Sport’s Day, cookouts and campouts, Birthday Party, another half-term, and then the end of term programme. Check your calendar for dates, or have look at the website : www.sakeji.com for more information.

Sincerely,

Mark Ronald

Headmaster, Sakeji Mission School

New School Year – 2014

New Year’s greetings to all the parents, friends, alumni and supporters of Sakeji School.  We are a couple of days into term and are thankful that all the students have arrived back safely for the beginning of a new school year.  There are ten new students joining us this year bringing us up to 80 students in total.  We pray that all will settle in quickly as they all learn the new ropes.

There are a number of new faces here at Sakeji for a term or two.  They include Mr. Ken Thompson, (Ontario-Canada) teaching a variety of subjects in Grades Three to Nine, Miss Jeannie Loudon (US) on a student-teaching experience from Emmaus Bible College, and Miss Sharese Weber (Ontario-Canada) helping out in various classes and small groups. We are thankful they are here and welcome them to Sakeji.

Mr. Jim Smith (England) will be at Sakeji this term to help begin a renovation of the school’s main sitting room.  A number of other visitors will be coming for a week or two here and there.  We are deeply indebted to those who give of their time and resources in so many ways.

This year, first term will be a shorter term of about 10 weeks, so no doubt time will go by quickly with all of the activities planned. Our Birthday Party theme will be Jungle, so keep a an eye on the website for pictures of that and other events to come.

Mr Ronald – Headmaster
